This spider was previously listed as Cyclosa fuliginata but its generic name was changed Salsa by V.W. Framenau and P. de Castanheira in the
following paper, published in May 2022: Zookeys 1102 pages 107-149.
Known Range: This spider, which may be a complex of species and identical with Araneus brisbanae and Araneus hamiltoni, can be found from Gladstone down to Victoria and
also is in Tasmania, Adelaide and South-western WA.
Spider(s) with a very similar appearance: Several other araneids, at least some of which are referred to as Araneus species.
